Are you looking for Ted Whitten? ... Guitar player, songwriter, singer extraordinairre? More like, video-game playing, movie-watching, couch potato Ted? Is that the guy? Well I have GREAT NEWS! This is (or was) Ted Whitten's personal web site! Wow!

This page still exists, because ..well ... because I never removed it. Makes sense right? But I no longer update it because I've taken up residence on MySpace to do all my online socializing these days. So if you want to reach me, or read current information about me, you really better visit MySpace. Or you could live in the past, and dwell on days gone by, and wallow in the depths of despair that come from failing to move on, and adapt, and change, and live in the now.

WHO AM I?

This picture of me is about a billion years old (1987), so it's a little innacurate. I no longer have long, curly hair, perfect eyesight, a 28" waistline, and am no longer heart-breakingly good looking. Sorry. I just don't have any recent pictures.

Yeah, right. ;-)

I grew up in Fitchburg, Massachusetts (a graduate of F.H.S.), but currently reside in the Arizona Sonoran Desert. I work with a major airline in a "customer service" position, which I enjoy a lot. Much of my free time is devoted to some aspect of the sport of yo-yo'ing, which has become the major preoccupation of my life. I have written a yo-yo trick book called "The Illustrated Pro-Yo Trick Bible" which I peddle over the internet. Check it out!

Another hobby of mine is CD-R bootleg trading. What that means is, I use my computer's CD-burner to make copies of bootlegs (this just means "unofficial recordings", such as bootleg recordings of live concerts - not illegal copies of officially released store-bought CDs) from my collection, and trade them with other people for bootlegs I don't have yet. Nobody makes any money (that would be illegal), but everyone's collection of rare music grows! This is the coolest thing since sliced bread! If you want to know more about what I'm talking about, read through my web site on the subject ... "Let's Trade!"

I love watching movies, particularly time-travel / romance. My all-time favorite is "Somewhere in Time" with Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour from 1980. For several years I've been a part of a fan organization solely dedicated to "Somewhere in Time" (Yes, you heard that right ... a fan club about ONE movie!!), called INSITE; The International Network of 'Somewhere in Time' Enthusiasts. They publish a beautiful quarterly newsletter, sponsor special showings of SIT in theaters whenever possible, and every year they gather at The Grand Hotel (where the movie was filmed, on Mackinak Island) for a "Somewhere in Time Weekend", with guest appearances from some of the stars, showings of the movie, scene re-enactments, games and contests, and of course everyone dresses in 1912 period attire. I haven't been to this event yet, but have been to a number of other smaller events, and met numerous people from the cast.

Moving on.

I also play guitar (mostly acoustic, but some electric) and write music (mostly Folk, but some Rock and Roll), enjoy reading time-travel books, and I play video games whenever I get the chance (PS2 and PSP).

True love, you're wondering? Yes, I am in love...well, ok... sort of. I met Mary Miles Minter in a museum in London in 1998, and it was love at first sight. The only problem is, the girl's sorta been dead since 1984. So our relationship is somewhat one-sided, I guess you could say. I have a wall decorated with her pictures, which I either purchase on eBay or download and print off the web. Here's my favorite picture of her. Curious to see more? Check out "Faithfully Yours", an internet tribute to one of the most beautiful stars of the silent screen era.
