ATTENTION TAPERS:
Do you record shows yourself when you attend them?
I myself have not done so, but if you do, you may find the following
web site useful....
http://www.sonicstudios.com/pa_x.htm
It seems to have lots of technical information (way above my head!)
about
microphones, and to be a source for buying high quality equipment.
(Click here for a more detailed index of subjects)

I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys collecting music bootlegs or has any interest in learning more about them! This is an extremely detailed and comprehensive "inside view" of the methods, actions, and thought processes of the people behind most of the bootlegs made for the first several years of this phenomenon's history. I couldn't put it down.
VAN HALEN
1974 / 1975 / 1976 / 1977 / 1978 / 1979 / 1980 / 1981 / 1982 / 1983 / 1984 / 1985 / 1986 / 1987 / 1989 / 1995 / 1998 / Miscellaneous / Other items of interest to Van Halen fans
"Gazzari's" 1 disc (8 tracks, Audience recording) Gazzari's,West Hollywood, Los Angeles, CA 1974 - All cover songs! - I was told that this was Van Halen's very first show but I highly doubt that. They sound too polished. But it is definitely the earliest known recording of Van Halen. Gazzari's was the first real 'club' that Van Halen played at (after being rejected by 19 other clubs), and they played there numerous times between 1974-1976. As hard as it is to imagine, in these days the band was paid a paltry $75.00 per night!! - Sound quality not yet rated - Track list and cover art can be obtained here
"La Canada High School Feb '75" (See "Club Days" below)
"Goldenwest Ballroom 1976" 1 disc (14 tracks) Norwalk, California 5-9-76 - Sound quality not yet rated - Track list and cover art can be obtained here
"Club Days" (Also circulated as "Goldenwest Ballroom Part 2") 1 disc (Audience recording) Goldenwest Ballroom 5-9-76, The Starwood Club 6-1-76, and La Canada High School Feb 1975 - I would say the sound quality is very good, but the track transitions are crudely edited and there are split-second TAO gaps. - These are almost all cover songs, but there are a few originals. The performance of "Running with the Devil" is particularly interesting because the lyrics were very different at this early stage - Track list and cover art can be obtained here
"Strike While The Iron is Hot" (Incomplete) 1 disc (7 tracks) Pasadena Convention Center, CA 5-30-76 - I'm not sure if this is an AUD or SBD, but it sounds GREAT! - For some reason I only have 7 tracks of this show - Converted from MP3 - Split-second gaps - No track list or cover art
"Standing Alone" 1 disc (Audience Recording) The Starwood Club 6-1-76 - Sound quality is very bad. Muffled, bassy, barely audible, and it cuts off at the end, and some parts repeat - No track list or cover art
"Starwood" 1 disc (Audience recording) The Starwood Club 6-12-76 - Sound quality is between 'Poor' and 'Fair'. Plus, this whole disc seems highly disorganized. It's an incomplete show. Tracks 2, 4, 5 and 12 each end a few seconds into the songs. And there are gaps between some tracks and not others - No track list or cover art
"Covers Band From Pasadena" 1 disc (Audience recording) Live at Aeros Bogarts, San Bernardino, CA 1976 (19 tracks, more than half of which were cover songs!) - Artwork images are somewhat low-res - Sound quality not yet rated - Track list and cover art can be obtained here
"Pasadena Hilton" 1 disc (6 tracks, Soundboard) All tracks are from the Pasadena Hilton in 1976 except for Track 10 which is from the Goldenwest Ballroom in Norwalk, CA on 5-30-76. This track, "I'm the One", is from an alternate source and mix - My version is incomplete, and only has 6 tracks - Sound quality not yet rated - Track list and cover art can be obtained here
"Santa Monica High School" (See "The World's Greatest Rock n' Roll Band")
"Van Halen '77 + Lives On: '77 + Live Part Four" 1 disc (14 tracks) Tracks 1-11: The Starwood 1-18-77, Tracks 12-14: Fresno 1978 - Sound quality is good, but there's a lot of high-end noise - Track list and cover art can be obtained here
"Pasadena '77" 1 disc (10 tracks, Soundboard, 42 min.) Pasadena, CA 2-18-77 - Sound quality not yet rated - Track list available upon request - No cover art
"Oldest Lost Tape" 1 disc (15 tracks, Audience recording) Live at the Whiskey a Go-Go in Hollywood, CA 6-10-77 - Sound quality not yet rated - Track list and cover art can be obtained here
"Magic Mountain" 1 disc (Soundboard) Six Flags Magic Mountain, Valencia, CA October 1977 - Very good sound quality - Track list and cover art can be obtained here
"Young and Wild" (Also circulated under the names "Live USA", "Atomic Punks", "Civic Pride" and "Dressed to Kill") 1 disc (11 tracks, Soundboard) Pasadena Civic Auditorium 12-20-77 - GREAT sound quality. There are some imperfect track transitions, and most of the last track ("You Really Got Me") plays at a speed slightly too fast. Also someone did something strange to this recording .. about 3 minutes and 21 seconds into "Eruption" they carefully spliced it so it flows into the beginning again, and it sounds natural until you start getting De'Ja'Vu. I have no idea why this was done, except as a joke. - Track list and cover art can be obtained here
"At The Best" 1 disc (25 tracks) 10 tracks are from The Garage 1977, 6 from Pasadena Hilton 1976, 9 of Eddie in the studio (Note: At first I assumed "At The Best" referred to a venue called "The Best", but I think whoever did the artwork probably just had bad grammar .. I think they meant "At their best".) - Track list and cover art can be obtained here
"Summertime Blues" (Also called "Last Night") 1 disc (14 tracks) New Year's Eve at The Whiskey A Go-Go, 12-31-77, plus the last 5 tracks are from Paris 1978 - Great sound quality - Track list and cover art can be obtained here
"Palladium '78" 1 disc - The Palladium, New York, NY 3-25-78 - Sound quality not yet rated - No track list or cover art
"Burning Blood" 1 disc (13 tracks, Total running time 54:55) Paradisio, Amsterdam, Holland 5-6-78 - Great sound quality - Track list and cover art can be obtained here
"Stand By Your Side" 1 disc (Audience recording) Paris, France 5-10-78 - Sound quality not yet rated - Track list and cover art can be obtained here
"Glasgow '78" 1 disc (Audience recording) Glasgow Apollo Theatre, Glasgow, Scotland 5-18-78 - Supporting Black Sabbath - Sound quality not yet rated - Track list available upon request - No cover art (Please email it to me if you have it)
"London 6-1-78" 1 disc (Audience recording) London, England 6-1-78 - Sound quality is GREAT - Converted from MP3, so it has split-second track gaps - No track list or cover art
"Tokyo Live 1978" 1 disc (Audience recording) Koseinenkin Hall, Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan 6-17-78 - Good sound quality - Track list and cover art can be obtained here
"Sonic Tokyo" 1 disc (Audience recording) Sun Plaza Hall, Tokyo, Japan 6-22-78 - One interesting thing .. in this show they play an early version of "Shot Down In Flames" that was totally different than the album version - Sound quality is very good, but there are split-second TAO gaps between tracks. - Track list and cover art can be obtained here
"D.O.A. Dreamer" 1 disc (13 tracks, Soundboard) Nagoya, Japan 6-24-78 - This bootleg is often incorrectly called "D.A.A. Dreamer" due to an error on the front cover of the artwork (My God! An error on bootleg cover art? What a concept!), but the sides and back of the art correctly show "D.O.A." (Dead or Alive). Sound quality is very good, but not great. Some minor distortion and tone variance, and it has split-second TAO track transitions - Track list and cover art can be obtained here
"Shinjuku '78 - The Other Show" 1 disc (17 tracks, Audience recording) Koseinenkin Hall, Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan 6-19-78 - Good sound quality, but when the last song ends the track continues for another 5 minutes with some other band! My guess is, someone had a cassette tape of this other band, and later copied the VH show over that recording, but it didn't quite fill the whole tape, and whoever converted it from cassette to CD wasn't paying attention and didn't notice. - Track list and cover art can be obtained here
"Don't Ever Set Me Free" 2 discs (8 tracks) Sun Plaza Hall, Tokyo, Japan 6-22-78 - Sound quality not yet rated - Track list and cover art can be obtained here
"Eyes Of The Night" 1 disc (15 tracks) Tracks 1-9: Pasadena Community College, CA 5-30-76 & tracks 10-15: Tokyo, Japan 1978 (Date unknown) - Very good sound quality. No gaps, but has quick TAO track transitions - Track list and cover art can be obtained here
"Oklahoma City" (Also called "Bottoms Up!") 1 disc - Live in Oklahoma City, OK 7-15-78 - Very good sound quality - Track list and cover art can be obtained here
"Offenbach '78" 1 disc (12 tracks, Audience recording, 46 min.) Offenbach, Germany 10-11-78 - Sound quality not yet rated - Track list available upon request - No cover art
"Paris '78 & Osaka '79" 1 disc (11 tracks, Audience recordings, 47 min.) Tracks 1-5: Paris, France 1978 (Probably 5-10-78), Tracks 6-11: Osaka, Japan 1979 (Date unknown) - Sound quality not yet rated - Track list available upon request - No cover art
"On Fire in Fresno" 1 disc (Soundboard) Live at Serrande Arena, Fresno, CA 3-25-79 - 1'st show of the "VHII" world tour. This is the same show as"Live and Loud" but without: "Dance the Night Away", Michael Anthony's bass solo, "You're No Good", and part of Eddie's guitar solo. Instead, this disc features an extremely early radio clip of Roth introducing a 'demo tape' of "Running with the Devil", followed by that demo and a demo of "House of Pain". If you had to clip songs from this show, you couldn't ask for better replacement tracks! Very Good sound quality - Track list and cover art can be obtained here
"Live and Loud" (Same as "On Fire In Fresno" but more complete and without the bonus tracks) 1 disc - Serrande Arena, Fresno, CA 3-25-79 - Great sound quality - Track list and cover art can be obtained here
"California World Music Festival" 1 disc (Audience recording) California World Music Festival, Memorial Coliseum, Los Angeles, CA 4-8-79 - Fair sound quality - Track list and cover art can be obtained here
"Light Up The Sky" 1 disc (16 tracks) Center Coliseum, Seattle, WA 4-19-79 - Sound quality not yet rated - Track list and cover art can be obtained here
"We're An American Band" 1 disc (17 tracks, Audience recording, Approx 76 min.) Lyon, France 6-21-79 (The artwork incorrectly says 5-21-79) - Sound quality not yet rated - Track list and cover art can be obtained here
"Blitzed In London" 2 discs (Audience recording) London, England 6-28-79 - Disc 2 includes a very cool F.U.C.K. rehearsal or sound check which is excellent sound quality - Sound quality not yet rated - Track list and cover art can be obtained here
"Texas II Step" 2 discs (19 tracks, Approx 92 min.) Music Hall, Houston, TX 7-11-79 - Sound quality not yet rated - Track list and cover art can be obtained here
"Kaikan" 2 discs (Audience recording) Kaikan, Kyoto, Japan 9-3-79 - No track list or cover art
"Paris '78 & Osaka '79" 1 disc (11 tracks, Audience recordings, 47 min.) Tracks 1-5: Paris, France 1978 (Probably 5-10-78), Tracks 6-11: Osaka, Japan 9-10-79 - Sound quality not yet rated - Track list available upon request - No cover art
"Women and Children First Sessions" 1 disc (Soundboard) Studio Outtakes 1980 - If I remember correctly, only about half this disc was Women and Children First Demos, and I forget what the other half was. The sound quality was pretty poor (dominant bass & drums), but listenable. I personally loved hearing these early versions of some of my favorite VH songs - Track list and cover art can be obtained here
"Bright Lights, Big Largo" (Also circulated as "Tora! Tora! Tora!") 1 disc (13 tracks, Soundboard) Live at Capitol Centre, Largo, MD 5-1-80 - Very good sound quality - Track list and cover art can be obtained here
"The Good, The Bad, and The Van Halen" (Also circulated under the name "1980 London Invasion") 1 disc (16 tracks, Audience recording) London Rainbow Ballroom,London, England 6-23-80 - Sound quality not yet rated - Track list and cover art can be obtained here
"This Ain't Cheap Trick" 1 disc (Audience recording) University of New Mexico Arena, Albuquerque, NM 9-10-80 - The title of this CD is taken from something Dave says during this show: "This ain't Cheap Trick Baby!". The apparent implication that Cheap Trick is so obviously inferior to Van Halen is at least mildly insulting to someone who considers himself a huge fan of both Van Halen and Cheap Trick. Dave seems to have enjoyed taking many similar jabs at Cheap Trick. I remember a magazine quote where he said something like "Now do you think they'll let me join Cheap Trick?". And during his Rockline 8-9-82 interview a caller asked him what VH does to get psyched up before a show, and Dave's response was "Well, we DON'T do it by listening to Cheap Trick!". - The sound quality of this show is 'fair' at best. There's a lot of noise and distortion, and there are fades between tracks. - No track list or cover art
"Providence 1981" 2 discs (Audience recording) Providence, RI 5-15-81 - The first U.S. show of this tour - Sound quality is merely fair, and it has split-second TAO gaps - Track list and cover art can be obtained here

"Martial Law" 2 discs (19 tracks, Audience recording, Approx 106 min.) Philadelphia, PA 7-21-81 - Sound quality not yet rated - Track list and cover art can be obtained here
"Largo '81" 1 disc (Audience recording) Fair Warning Tour, Largo, MD 7-28-81 - Sound quality is 'fair' to 'good'. There is a lot of audience noise, whistling and screaming, but once the show get's going the sound is really not too bad. It does have split-second TAO gaps between tracks - Track list and cover art can be obtained here
"Shouting Out Loud" (Also called "Assaults Montreal") 1 disc (20 tracks, approx 71 min.) Montreal Forum, Montreal, Canada 10-27-82 - Sound quality not yet rated - Track list - Cover art can be obtained here (Front cover only)
"Fresno '82" 2 discs (Audience recording) Diver Down Tour, Fresno, CA 9-5-82 - Contains a few songs you don't hear live very often, such as "Where Have All The Good Times Gone" and "Hang 'Em High" - Sound quality is good - Track list and cover art can be obtained here
"Largo 10-12-82" 1 disc (22 tracks, Soundboard) Capital Centre, Largo, MD 10-12-82 - Sound quality is very good to great - Converted from MP3 - Split-second TAO gaps between tracks - No track list or cover art

"US Festival '83" (Condensed version) 1 disc (11 tracks, Recorded from FM, 31 min.) US Festival, Glen Helen Regional Park, San Bernardino / Devore, CA 5-29-83 - Includes Radio MC and band interviews (One from US Festival, but also a few other interviews) - Sound quality is GREAT - Track list available upon request - No cover art
"Pretty Woman" 2 discs (Soundboard) Live in San Bernadino, CA 1983 (4 tracks from the US Festival); Veteran's Memorial Auditorium, New Haven, CT 1986, Civic Auditorium, Pasadena, CA 12-20-77 (26 tracks total) - Great sound quality, but this boot has a few skips, and everything on this boot is taken from other bootlegs. And I'm not sure but I suspect the New Haven tracks might have been taken from Van Halen's live album "Right Here, Right Now" - Track list and cover art can be obtained here
"The Spider's Web" 2 discs (19 tracks, Audience recording) Charlotte, NC 2-1-84 - Sound quality is very good. There is some close-up audience noise - Track list and cover art can be obtained here

"Eddies Home Demos" 1 disc - The first 9 tracks are not even Eddie! They're the same Curt Mitchell tracks that appear on the CD "Edward Van Halen, Guitar Man" (See below) Sound quality is not too good either - No track list or cover art
"Edward Van Halen, Session Work & Live Performances" 2 discs (28 tracks, Soundboard) Misc. session work, soundtrack songs, and appearances on others artist's albums etc. - Sound quality not yet rated - Track list and cover art can be obtained here
"Edward Van Halen, Guitar Man" 1 disc - This is just guitar. It was released as an 'official' bootleg and the artwork liner notes say: "This CD contains the original soundboard practice sessions of Edward Van Halen. They are solo sessions with Edward from 1977-1983. Hours upon hours of tape have been gone through and edited to bring you these choice selections, spanning the best years of Eddie's guitar work! This tape source had to be literally "pieced" together in order to bring you, the listener, the most accurate of each song in its original sequence." However, according to vhboots.com: "The first 9 tracks are fake! It is not Edward Van Halen, it is Curt Mitchell from an instructional guitar video titled, Learn To Burn! However, the last track (the long one) is real. (i.e, Ed)" - Sound quality is 'good' at best. Also, there are no track markings. It's all one running track - Track list and cover art can be obtained here
"For The Fans Of Eddie" 1 disc - A compilation of jams Eddie did inside and outside of Van Halen. Nothing too rare here. I think all this stuff is on other bootlegs. Some of it I've heard many times. - Sound quality is GREAT - No track list or cover art
"Diver Down Rehearsals" 1 disc - I don't think this is really a rehearsal. It sounds like a public performance with a small audience of some sort. Dave says something about it being the first show of 1982, and it sounds like a very small crowd. - The sound quality is HORRIBLE. There's a ton of scratchy digital noise (If you have a better copy, let me know) Plus it sounds very muffled, and the sound cuts out several times for no apparent reason - No track list or cover art
"Hide Your Sheep Tour Rehearsal" 1 disc - Diver Down Tour Rehearsal (This might be the same as the above disc. I haven't compared them side by side) - Zoetrope Studios, San Francisco, CA 6-27-82 - Sound quality is Poor, but tolerable. Lots of hiss, and it has split-second TAO track transitions. - No track list or cover art
"1984 - In The Studio" 1 disc (Recorded from FM) This is a 1999 radio broadcast of Redbeard's show "In The Studio", looking back at the recording of the album "1984" on its 15'th anniversary, complete with commercials. Includes interview segments with Eddie, Alex, and Michael, but not Roth. Although Redbeard does read a small line or two from Roth's book "Crazy From The Heat", Dave is largely downplayed and discounted, and Eddie's remembrance of Dave "quitting the band" is the only side represented, which is too bad. - Disc is in 3 long tracks - The sound quality is excellent - No track list or cover art
"Tastes Like Chicken" 1 disc (10 tracks, Approx 38 min.) Assorted live and demos '78-'83 - Sound quality not yet rated - Track list and cover art can be obtained here
"The Soundchecks" 1 disc (Audience recordings) Assorted soundchecks from 1995 - Tracks 1-5 and 11-21 sound very good, but tracks 6-10 sound horrible and have lots of talking, like "I hope I don't get busted bringing this thing in here" and "Oooh, my girlfriend loves this song". Boring. - No track list or cover art
"Eruption Medley: A Collection of Electronic Van Halen" 1 disc - This is some kind of big, long 'dance mix' of VH songs which all run together with a techno dance beat and various synthesizer effects. Very well done. I'd like to know more details if anyone knows where this came from. I don't know who's singing. It sounds exactly like Roth, but it's clearly not just sampled from the original tracks - No track list or cover art
"Crack the Safe" 2 discs (42 tracks) This is just a re-hash of assorted material that has appeared on various other bootlegs already - No track list or cover art
"Night Of the Living ED" 2 discs (20 tracks, Various sources This is simply a collection of various live Eddie Van Halen guitar solos through the years - Quality varies from track to track - No cover art

The interview with Eddie is from sometime around 1983 shortly after "Diver Down". "Rockline '82 & '84" 1 disc (From FM) This is two VH appearances on the Rockline FM radio show - This first is from 8-9-82 and has Dave, Alex, and Mike. Sadly no Eddie. They take phone calls and crack everybody up. This was during their "Diver Down Hide Your Sheep Tour'. The second is from 2-20-84 during the "1984 Tour" Again no Eddie. They all talk, jive and laugh....and take calls from the fans around the country. - Sound quality is basically very good, but there is some tape hiss, and the editing is rough. - No cover art

*** Other Items Of Interest To Van Halen Fans ***
"VAN HALEN; VIDEO COMPILATION CD" - This is not a VCD (It
will not play in a VCD or DVD player) It is a CDR with a collection
of videos in MPEG format (One of them is in AVI format) which can be
viewed on almost any computer, using a movie-viewing program such as
QuickTime (which is downloadable for free on the internet). The
videos vary in size, and in sound and picture quality, but many of
them are very good, and all of them are watchable. There are 12
full-length Van Halen videos (Including a rare video of early Van
Halen performing the ZZ-Top cover "Beer Drinkers and Hellraisers"), 1
Van Halen 'video compilation/medley', 3 of Eddie Van Halen, 1 of
David Lee Roth, plus 5 other videos thrown in to fill up the CD (Foo
Fighters, Ratt, Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, and Poison). CD is
approximately 660 megs. General track list available upon
request.
I trade this CD just like all the others ... 1 for 1
"VAN HALEN; VIDEO COMPILATION VCD" - (Same content as the
above disc, except this is a VCD (copied on CDR) which should play on
just about any VCD player, and many DVD players (but I cannot
guarantee compatibility with your player). The videos vary in size,
and in sound and picture quality. Some definitely have very
low-resolution, but many of them are very good, and all of them are
watchable. They looked better viewed on the computer. On TV they are
much more pixelated and grainy. There are 12 full-length Van Halen
videos (Including a rare video of early Van Halen performing the
ZZ-Top cover "Beer Drinkers and Hellraisers"), a Van Halen 'video
compilation/medley', 3 of Eddie Van Halen, 1 of David Lee Roth, plus
5 other videos thrown in to fill up the CD (Foo Fighters, Ratt, Def
Leppard, Bon Jovi, and Poison). General track list available upon
request.
I trade this CD just like all the others ... 1 for 1
"VAN HALEN; THE ULTIMATE VH COMPILATION VCD" - This is a
VCD (copied on CDR) which should play on just about any VCD player,
and many DVD players (but I cannot guarantee compatibility with your
player). The quality was far better than I expected (You usually
cannot fit much high quality video on CDR), though not as good as the
original footage, of course. It is a collection of several videos
from the David Lee Roth era. These are not the same as the other
"Video Compilation CD" listed above. Some of them are actually from
live shows, others are 'psuedo live' videos in which they lip-sync to
the studio versions of the songs, and others are normal music videos
(like you'd see on MTV) such as "Jump", "Panama", "Hot for Teacher"
and "Pretty Woman". It also includes a Japanese video of "You Really
Got Me", and TV show performances of "The Cradle Will Rock", "You
Really Got Me", "Pretty Woman" and "Mean Street" (I can't tell what
shows they were on). - Note... VCD's can be viewed on a PC with VCD
playing software. There are several free VCD players you can download
on the internet. One example is
here.
(This is the one I downloaded, and it is a very basic player, but
works fine.)
I trade this CD just like all the others ... 1 for 1
"VAN HALEN; BALANCE WORLD TOUR VCD" 2 VCD discs on CDR (See
above paragraph which explains VCDs) Van Halen recorded live at the
Molson Amphitheater, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, August 18,19, 1995
from a ProShot Pay-Per-View special - Includes a little backstage,
pre-show, and 'meet-and-greet' footage prior to the concert, and
afterward the extra space on Disc 2 is filled up with an interview
with the band inside the 5150 studio, and a lot of assorted
interviews, video clips, and concert footage from European MTV's
"Headbanger's Ball's Van Halen Special". Then at the very end there
are four 'Balance' videos (These videos are excellent quality) -
Quality of most of this stuff is pretty good, but not as good as when
it was actually broadcast - On the plus side, it does have track
markings - No cover art
I trade this CD just like all the others ... 1 for 1
"EDDIE VAN HALEN & FRIENDS" 1 disc (VCD) The first 5 or
6 songs are from VH1's "All Star Jam". The next few songs are Eddie
on stage with some other band (Sorry, I don't know who). Next is
Eddie performing an instrumental version of "Panama" on the David
Letterman Show. Next is Eddie on Saturday Night Live. Then there's
more from VH1's "All Star Jam", starting with Eddie on stage with Les
Paul (the inventor of the electric guitar and multi-track recording)
giving him a gratuitous amount of thanks, then performing an
instrumental compilation of VH songs. After that The Stray Cats are
jamming and they invite various people to come on stage and join
them, including Eddie, B.B. King, Steve Miller, David Gilmore,
Stanley Jordan, Les Paul, John Hamer, and Waylon Jennings. Then Les
Paul performs, and that's all of that show. After this is something
VERY cool ... Eddie performing with Sammy Hagar's band at the "Farm
Aid" concert, prior to Sammy joining Van Halen! They do "Been A Long
Time Since I Rock And Rolled". After this is a clip of Hagar with Van
Halen, performing "Mississippi Queen" on stage with Leslie West
(bootleg footage), then a few more bootleg live clips, some of which
is really bad quality - Sound quality overall is mostly very good.
Video quality is merely good. - Disc has many track markings, but
each song does not have its own track - No cover art
I trade this CD just like all the others ... 1 for 1
"Quarum at the Forum" 2 discs (Video CDs, PC-only, 22 tracks, Approx 103 min.) Montreal Forum, Montreal, Canada 4-19-84 - These are apparently not VCD's, but they are video (Probably just basic MPG, AVI or something like that) I haven't watched it yet so I haven't rated it - No track list or cover art
"Van Halen III" 2 discs (VCD) The 2 discs contain a variety of stuff. This is basically it ... Disc 1: Interview segments with the band, "In-Store" meet-and-greet at Virgin Megastore in New York City, montage of their performance at Billboard, Los Angeles, CA, music videos of "Without You" and "Fire In The Hole", WAAF Real Rock TV show featuring 3 songs live at Fleet Center (Mean Street, When It's Love, Fire In The Hole) and various interview segments with Eddie and Alex, and then some Pro-shot video of VH3 live at Madison Square Garden (Drum Solo, Dance The Night Away, Human Beings, Show Your Love, Jump). Disc 2: Pro-shot video of VH3 live at Sydney Entertainment Centre, Sydney, Australia (Unchained, Without You, The One I Want, Mean Street, Fire In The Hole, Somebody Get Me A Doctor, Why Can't This Be Love, Right Here Right Now, Josephina, Ain't Talkin' Bout Love, Panama), and 2 songs (Dreams, and How Many Say I) from a VH3 live bootleg - Video and audio quality are 'very good', and these discs have track markings - No cover art
"Little Guitars: A Tribute to Van Halen" 1 disc (11 tracks, Studio) Released in September 2000. I enjoyed this tribute album, but there is very little originality. Almost all the songs are carbon copies of the original VH versions, musically and vocally - Tracks: 1. Unchained - Features vocalist Jack Russell (Great White), drummer Eric Singer (Kiss), bassist Marco Mendoza and guitarist Dweezil Zappa, 2. I'm the One - Mark Slaughter 3. Dance the Night Away - Joe Lynn Turner 4. Light up the Sky - Features vocals by Doug Pinnick (King's X) with Yngwie Malmsteen's searing guitar licks and Billy Sheehan's driving bass lines 5. Panama - Jani Lane 6. Hot for Teacher - John Corabi 7. Running With the Devil - Features Stephen Pearcy (Ratt), Jake E. Lee (Ozzy Osbourne), Tim Bogert (Vanilla Fudge) and Frankie Banali (Quiet Riot) 8. Pretty Woman - Gunnar Nelson 9. Atomic Punk - Fee Waybill (Tubes) with guitarist Brad Gillis (Night Ranger) 10. So This Is Love - Vocalist Jeff Scott Soto and guitarist Blue Saraceno 11. Little Guitars - David Glen Eisley (Guiffria) and guitarist Mitch Perry - Excellent sound quality - No cover art

"Look at All the People Here Tonight" 1 disc - Radio Promo Disc, 2000 - David Lee Roth, John Lowery, Bob Marlette - I don't know who made this, or if it's officially endorsed. It's strange. It's basically a techno dance metal creation. The music is not David Lee Roth, but there are a few sampled sound bytes of him which are repeated - This is just one song, about 3-4 minutes long. I can squeeze it onto another CD as 'filler'.
"Talk & Acoustic" 1 disc (Soundboard, from FM) Live on The Mark & Brian radio show, KLOS FM, Los Angeles, CA 5-14-02 - This was just a few days before the first show of the "Roth / Hagar" tour, so that is one of the major subjects of conversation - Sound quality not yet rated - No track list or cover art

"Internet 4th of July Spectacular" 2 discs - It's a party at Dave's house and was broadcast only on the internet on 7-4-99. There's no music, just Dave and his buddies catching a buzz and keeping the "Dave'isms" rolling. This is pretty darn boring, to be honest - Sound quality is great - No cover art
"KLOS 2002" 1 disc (22 tracks, From FM) KLOS "Bob & Tom" radio interview, Los Angeles, CA 5-14-02 (Probably the same as 5-22-02, but I haven't compared them), plus several other clips from other radio appearances - Sound quality of the Bob & Tom show is excellent, except for some digital noise in track 14. ALSO OF INTEREST TO DAVID LEE ROTH FANS ...
"MTV Eat'Em And Smile Special" 1 DVD - Also includes Joan Rivers interview 1986 - Quality not yet rated - No track list or cover art
"David Lee Roth; Two VCD Set" 2 discs (VCD) These are two different David Lee Roth shows, one on each disc. The person who I got them from had them labeled "N.J. & Finland 1999", but I don't believe that's correct. Both shows look like they're from the mid-80's when Roth was at his popularity peak, playing large arena gigs. Disc One has a title at the beginning which says "David Lee Roth, Montreal, Canada 11-1-86", so I'm sure that's probably what it is, but Disc Two is unlabeled (Also mid-80's I think). Also includes the music videos of "Just a Gigilo", "California Girls", "Yankee Rose", "Goin' Crazy" and "That's Life" - The audio and video are reasonably good on both discs, for bootlegs anyway. The camera person had a very steady hand, and was in a good position to film all parts of the stage in both shows (He wasn't too close, but had a zoom on his camcorder) - These discs played fine in my DVD player, so they may or may not play in yours. You can always watch them on your computer by downloading one of the many free VCD players available on the internet (For example here) These discs also have track markings, which is nice- No track list or cover art
"Detroit '86" 2 discs (VCD) Detroit, MI 1986 - Fairly good audio and video quality, but no track markings - No cover art
"Hot Rod Bettie" 2 discs (VCD) Ranta Rock Festival 1999 (City unknown) Fairly good quality audio and video. This is a professionally shot concert, most likely recorded from TV. Dave's voice is in rather rough shape. - No cover art
"Munich '91" 2 discs (VCD) Munich, Germany 3-8-91 - Video is fairly good. A bit shaky at times, and the color is a little off, and sometimes washed out. The sound is kind of hissy. This VCD has titles and track markings. - No cover art
"Bristaw '99" 2 discs (VCD) Bristaw, VA 1999 - Horribly quality! The audio skips nonstop throughout both discs. It might be a bad burn. If you have a good copy, let me know. - No cover art
"Welcome To The Digital Millenium" 2 discs (VCD) House of Blues, Las Vegas, NV 1-7-00 - Very good quality. Excellent close-up camera position. Also this VCD has titles and track markings. - No cover art

On some tracks it's very good, but on many tracks there is some kind of loud distortion. And some audience talking can be heard. - No track list or cover art
"Rare Tracks" 1 disc (15 tracks, Studio) Sounds like some kind of mix of rarities, demos, B-sides etc. Some of the tracks are live, both audience and soundboard recordings. Some of it is with VH and some from his solo career - I was told that this recording used to have some digital pops and clicks, but they were removed - Sound quality on all tracks is either very good or great - Cover art available upon request
