I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys collecting music bootlegs or has any interest in learning more about them! This is an extremely detailed and comprehensive "inside view" of the methods, actions, and thought processes of the people behind most of the bootlegs made for the first several years of this phenomenon's history. I couldn't put it down.

1964:
ART GARFUNKEL; "Private Home Recording '64" 1 disc (Only about 20 minutes) All acapella vocal practicing, some alone and some with Paul. - Recorded in NYC, 1964 - No track list or cover art - Sound quality is very good
PAUL SIMON; "Chez" 1 disc - A home tape Paul made for his girlfriend Kathy in England, probably in late 1964. Very interesting! Paul plays and sings several songs, mostly alone, but a few with Art (whom he calls 'Artie'), and he talks periodically for narration, and about various things. - The sound quality is reasonably good considering that this recording might have undergone a number of generations on cassette before being converted to CD. Some tracks seem to end prematurely, and I'm not sure if they were this way originally or not. The sound level is rather low, and of course there is significant tape hiss. - Track list - Cover art can be obtained here

PAUL SIMON ; "Live at Massey Hall" VCD (Video CD) 2 discs - Live at Massey Hall, Toronto, Ontario, Canada 11-29-00 - This is Paul Simon with a full back-up band of musicians, including THREE percussionists! The quality is TERRIFIC!!! - better than any other bootleg concert video I've ever seen. My guess is that it was filmed with a digital camcorder on a tripod. It's perfectly steady throughout. The camera person does switch angles and positions, and periodically zooms in or out, but there is little or no shaking or vibration. The sound quality is great too. Nice range of tones, and no close-up talking either. Whoever did this ... I'm impressed! - Note...This is a VCD (Video CD). It will play in a VCD player, and on many (but not all) DVD players. I cannot guarantee this will be compatable with your player. VCD's are unpredictable. However, it can be viewed on a PC with VCD playing software. There are several free VCD players you can download on the internet. One example is here. (This is the one I downloaded, and it is a very basic player, but works fine.)
