ATTENTION TAPERS:
Do you record shows yourself when you attend them?
I myself have not done so, but if you do, you may find the following web site useful....
http://www.sonicstudios.com/pa_x.htm
It seems to have lots of technical information (way above my head!) about
microphones, and to be a source for buying high quality equipment.

(Click here for a more detailed index of subjects)

I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys collecting music bootlegs or has any interest in learning more about them! This is an extremely detailed and comprehensive "inside view" of the methods, actions, and thought processes of the people behind most of the bootlegs made for the first several years of this phenomenon's history. I couldn't put it down.

Also Of Interest To Bob Dylan Fans ...

"Folk Songs & More Folk Songs!" (VCD Video CD) 1 disc - This is a complete Westinghouse Broadcasting TV special from March 1963. It features Bob Dylan, The Brothers Four, Barbara Dane, The Staple Singers, and Carolyn Hester. Bob does 3 songs. And the show is themed around freedom and early American history, with corny narration and illustration - Quality is fairly good - No track list or cover art

"The 1965 Interview" (VCD Video CD) 1 disc - KQED-TV Press Conference, San Francisco, CA 12-3-65 - This is interesting to watch. Bob is young, shy, and awkward. - The video and audio are both fairly good, but not great - Cover art available upon request

"Quest-TV & Newport" (VCD Video CD) 1 disc (10 songs) The primary feature on this VCD is an old black & white Bob Dylan TV special called "The Times They Are A-Changin", which was a Quest / CBC-TV production from Toronto, Canada 2-1-64. This is 5 songs. Very interesting. It's just Bob singing 5 songs, but as he's singing he's hanging out in a dimly lit cabin at night with a group of manly mountain man type of guys who just provide atmosphere by sitting around contemplatingly, reading newspapers, smoking, whittling wood, playing cards, smiling, tapping their feet etc. After this, there are 5 other individual songs from separate TV appearances from this same general time period, one of which is Newport 1964 or 1965. - The quality is fair, but not too good - No track list or cover art

"Flying Again" 2 discs - Live at Budokan, Tokyo, Japan 9-8-79 - Sound quality not yet rated - Cover art available upon request

"Hotel California Live" 1 disc (12 tracks, Soundboard) Los Angeles, CA 1980 (Probably L.A. Forum 3-4-80) - Please note: I'm not sure, but it sounds a lot like these tracks might be from The Eagles' double live album - Track list - Cover art can be obtained here

"L.A. Forum 1980" 2 discs (Soundboard) L.A. Forum, Los Angeles, CA 3-4-80 - This might have been the same show as their official double live album, but this is a different set list - Sound quality is good but not great. "Alligator Burbank" (Also called "Second Night") 2 discs (Soundboard) Warner Brothers Soundstage, Burbank, CA 4-26-94 - This is the Complete MTV rehearsals the night before the taping of the MTV "Hell Freezes Over" show. Although this was merely a rehearsal and the subsequent day was just a taping to be broadcast at a later date, there was a small intimate audience, so this was technically their first 'ruinion' performance after the break-up. - Lots of talking and interaction with the audience! - GREAT sound quality - Track list - Cover art can be obtained here or Cover art can be obtained here

"Funky New Year" 1 disc (Soundboard) The Millenium Show, Los Angeles, CA 12-31-99 - Sound quality is fantastic! But there are a few problems. There are a few skips in Track 7, a repeating skip in Track 11, and split-second TAO gaps between all tracks. - No track list or cover art

"Boys Of Summer" 4 discs (57 tracks, Mostly soundboard) Among hardcore Eagles fans, originals of this 4-disc boxed set are extremely coveted and rare - Great sound quality - Track list - I have taken the scans of the actual box set cover & booklet, and edited & adapted them to make cover art & folding inserts to fit in a 4-disc jewel case. I'll be glad to email it to anyone who wants it

"Lucca 2001" 2 discs (12 tracks, Soundboard, recorded from FM) Italy Summer Festival, Lucca 7-14-01 - Truly excellent sound quality, except a few very small spots of static. Also, the D.J. gives very long-winded introductions between every song in Italian, talking even over the Eagles when they are speaking, and the first part of each song before the lyrics begin. - No track list or cover art

"Denver 2001" 2 discs (Audience recording) Invesco Field, Denver, CO 8-11-01 - Sound quality is fairly good, but nothing too special - No track list or cover art

"Rotterdam 2001" 3 discs (Audience recording) Exact date unknown (Can anyone tell me?) - Sound quality is between 'Very Good' and 'Great'. Some talking can be heard at times - No track list or cover art

"Manchester 2001" 2 discs (Audience recording) Exact date unknown (Can anyone tell me?) - Sound quality is good, but it has a little too much 'body', and there are some soft digital pops and clicks - No track list or cover art

"Fourth Of July 2002" 2 discs (Audience recording) Thompson Bowling Arena, Knoxville, TN 7-4-02 - Sound quality is merely 'Fair'. It is clear enough, but has a sort of 'funnel' sound, as so many audience recordings do. - No track list or cover art

"Hole In The Security" 3 discs (Audience recording) Boston Fleet Center, Boston, MA 7-15-03 - Exact date unknown (Can anyone tell me?) - Sound quality is between 'Very Good' and 'Great'. There's one skip early in Track 1 on Disc 3 - No track list or cover art

DON HENLEY

"Concert for the Environment" 1 disc (12 tracks, Audience recording) "Concert for the Environment", Long Beach, CA 8-28-86 - Sound quality is fair to good. Editing is imperfect. Some tracks fade out, and there are are split-second TAO gaps between tracks. There's also something funky about the track markings. There are only 12 actual tracks, and then about 90 more track markings that have no sound - Sound source unknown - No track list or cover art

"Rare Tracks" (Also called "Unreleased Live & Rare, Volumes 1, 2, 3") 3 discs (54 tracks, Studio) Assorted alternate versions of their songs. "Pop's"  1 disc - Tracks 1-12; Pop's, Sauget, IL - Tracks 14-16: Vintage Vinyl, St. Louis, MO 3-9-03 (Audience recording of a record store appearance) - Sound quality is great, but there is some close-up talking and applauding, as you would expect - No track list or cover art

"Origin" 1 disc (11 Tracks, Studio) November 2000 - It has been quoted that Amy Lee does not consider Origin an album, but rather a "collection of demos that they dressed up to send to different major labels." Only 2500 copies were produced and sold out in February 2003. - Converted from MP3 - Sound quality not yet rated - No cover art

"Not For Your Ears" 1 disc ( 19 Tracks) A collection of rare 2001-2002 demos. The song "You" was reportedly written by Amy Lee for Ben (Moody, guitar). FLEETWOOD MAC

"Fritz Demos" 1 disc (Soundboard) Lindsey & Stevie's high school band - Reasonable sound quality - Track list - Sorry, no cover art

"Tiger Beat - Studio '68" 1 disc - This disc is mislabeled. I was told it was "1968 studio sessions", but it's actually a live concert. The music is rock/blues, and I'm not even sure it's Fleetwood Mac because I couldn't recognize anything or anyone. - Sound quality is pretty good - No track list or cover art

"Carousel Ballroom" 2 discs - Carousel Ballroom, San Francisco, CA 6-23-68 - Featuring Paul Butterfield on harmonica on disc 2, tracks 1-5 - Sound quality not yet rated - Track list available upon request - No cover art

"Shrine 69" 1 disc (Soundboard) Expo Hall, Los Angeles, CA 1-25-69 - All blues music - Sound quality is GREAT - No track list - Front cover art available upon request

"The Boston Tea Party" 1 disc (15 tracks) Boston, MA 1969 - Not yet rated - Track list - Cover art available upon request

"English Rose" 1 disc (12 tracks, Recorded from FM) 1969 - Not yet rated - Cover art available upon request

"Boston '70" 1 disc (Soundboard) Boston, MA 2-5-70 - Sound quality is GREAT - No track list or cover art

"1974-1975" 1 disc (Soundboard, from FM) The name implies that this is a compilation ranging from '74 -'75, but it's actually a single live concert. Probably someone didn't know the date but thought it might have been somewhere in those years. Although I don't know the date or location of the performance (If you do, please tell me) this is an excellent recording and a great live show. It was recorded from FM 93 XRT radio station in Chicago - Great sound quality - No track list or cover art

"Don't You Let Me Down Again" 1 disc - Passaic, NJ, May 1975 - Very good sound quality - Track list - Cover art can be obtained here or can also be obtained here

"Who's The New Girl" 1 disc (The cover calls this a "studio rehearsal" but it's obviously a live concert) Wallingford, CT 1975 (?) - Really good sound quality - Track list - Cover art can be obtained here

"King Biscuit Flower Hour" 1 disc (Soundboard) 1976 - Sound quality not yet rated - Track list and cover art

"Rumours Outtakes" (Also circulated under the name "Rumours are Rampant" 1 disc (17 tracks) Alternate takes and unreleased songs from the Rumours era - Track list - Cover art can be obtained here and can also be obtained here

"Rumours Remixes" 1 disc (Studio) The complete Rumours album, including Silver Springs, completely remixed from the original studio masters. Includes some vocal and instrumental parts not used in the original mixes. The quality is pristine digital audio. - No track list or cover art

"Rhiannon Master Sessions" 1 disc (Studio) 3-29-78 - Three beautiful takes of Rhiannon from the March 29, 1978 master reel to reel. These demos are piano & vocal only. The first track is labeled as a "complete" mix, the second as an "edit," and the third is labeled "master, better at end," but is more like an instrumental mix, since Stevie's vocals are barely audible. Each version is slightly over 13 minutes long, and the vocal on the first two tracks is crystal clear and beautiful. - No cover art

"Mirage Rehearsals" 1 disc - Sound quality not yet rated - Cover art can be obtained here

"Oakland '77" 1 disc (Soundboard?) Oakland, CA 5-7-77 (Or possibly Oklahoma City 5-18-77 .. I'm not sure which is correct. Please let me know if you can solve the mystery.) - Edited between tracks - Sound quality is great, but there seem to be some mild digital pops which are barely audible and only appear on some tracks, and also there are split-second TAO gaps between tracks, and the song "You Make Lovin' Fun" gets cut off prematurely. One interesting point: Stevie Nicks gets so emotional while singing "Landslide" (a very personal song to her) that she breaks into tears and has trouble singing - No track list or cover art

"Tusk Rehearsals, Volume 2" 1 disc (16 tracks, Soundboard) 1979 - Sound quality is excellent on some tracks, just 'very good' on others. Track 13 has several noises and a few skips. Still this is a great CD! - Track list - Cover art can be obtained here and can also be obtained here

"Tusk Take 2" (Also called "Tusk Outtakes and Demos") 1 disc (14 tracks) Demos & Outtakes - Sound quality not yet rated - Track list - No cover art

"Tusk Outtakes" 2 discs (Studio) Sound quality varies, but is always between 'very good' and 'great' - Track list available upon request - No cover art

"St. Louis 1979" 2 discs - Checker Dome, St. Louis, MO 11-6-79 - Note that Rhiannon is cut at around the 7:15 mark. I believe that all copies of this boot are like this - Sound quality not yet rated - Cover art can be obtained here

"The Chain of Attachment" 1 disc - The Forum, Los Angeles 10-22-82 from "The Mirage Tour" - Very good sound quality, but my copy has some flaws. There is at least one very minor skip in Track 10, about 16 skips in Track 11 all in a row, and after the whole bootleg ends there is a loud sound of some sort, which could probably be removed by someone who has the right equipment - Track list - Cover art can be obtained here and also can be obtained here

"San Francisco '87" 1 disc (Soundboard) The Cow Palace, San Francisco, 12-12-87 - A wonderful CD full of great music! - Great sound quality - Track list - Cover art can be obtained here

"Last Dance" 1 disc - This is a compilation culled from various dates from their last tour, and the quality varies too. - Track list - Cover art can be obtained here

"Dancing Again" 2 discs (Soundboard) San Francisco ,CA 10-15-97 - Sound quality not yet rated - Cover art available upon request

"Demos and Live Compilation #1" 1 disc (16 tracks) This is an excellent combination of studio and live audience recorded tracks! - Sound quality varies, but is generally good - Track list available upon request - No cover art

"Demos and Live Compilation #2" 1 disc - Sound quality varies. There are tons of digital pops and clicks on tracks 4,8. Track 6 has a very low audio signal. Track 8 is a poor quality audience recording. Tracks 11,12 are from a great sounding audience recording. The rest are studio demos. - Track list available upon request - No cover art

"Missing Links" 3 discs (44 tracks) Demos, Outtakes & Live Songs - Tracks are from a variety of sources and quality varies all the way from 'Fair' to 'Great'. The editing is rough and unprofessional, as some tracks seem to start or end abruptly, with a few seconds cut off. - Track list available upon request - No cover art

"Sanctuary" 1 disc (15 tracks) A collection of demos and unreleased songs, many of which were big hits, including a fascinating early demo of Rhiannon - GREAT sound quality - Track list- Cover art available upon request

"In The Beginning; Superstars Live" 1 disc (16 tracks, Studio) Please note: The cover art says "Live at the Pieret Theater, Boston, MA 1981", but that is clearly erroneous. This is not a live concert at all. It seems to be some sort of collection of rehearsals, demos, early versions of songs, and that sort of thing. Unfortunately, besides a list of the song titles I can't provide any more details about these tracks - Sound quality ranges from 'very good' to 'great', but there is some tape hiss, some overdrive distortion on a few tracks, and some sloppy edits - Cover art available on request

"Dreamer" 1 disc (12 tracks, Soundboard) USA, 1984 - All live, but each track fades in separately, so it may be collected from different shows - FANTASTIC sound quality - Track list - Cover art can be obtained here or can also be obtained here or can also be obtained here

"Cathouse Blues" (Apparently also called "Desire Of Love", since someone sent me a CD under that name which turned out to be Cathouse Blues) 1 disc - Demos and rehearsals - Quality varies from track to track since they came from so many different sources; 'GREAT' on some, 'not-so-great' on others - Cover art can be obtained here

"Enchanted Outtakes" 1 disc - Outtakes, demos and rehearsals - Sound quality not yet rated - No track list or cover art

"King Biscuit Flower Hour" (w/ Fools Gold) 1 disc (Soundboard) Includes guest appearence by The Eagles' members Don Henley, Joe Walsh & Don Felder - Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, Santa Monica, CA 3-7-76 (This is the same show as "Santa Monica 1976" above, but trimmed down) - Sound quality is Very Good to Great. "Los Angeles '79" 3 discs - Los Angeles, CA 12-10-79 - Sound quality not yet rated - No track list or cover art

"The Summit" 2 discs (Audience recording) Houston, TX 1982 - Sound quality is good, but not perfect. It's very clear, and the audience noise is extremely low, so it may actually be a soundboard recording. But it does have a bit of a 'funnel' sound common to many audience recordings. Also the sound breaks up or warbles at a few places, and there is a 'click' when each track changes. - Track list - No cover art

"Up Against" 1 disc (20 tracks) Live and demos from 1996 - Sound quality not yet rated - Sorry, no cover art or track list

*** ALSO FOR TRADE ***

"FOO FIGHTERS & MORE" VIDEO COMPILATION CD - This is a CD-R with a collection of videos in MPG format, which can be viewed on almost any computer, using a movie-viewing program such as QuickTime (which is downloadable for free on the internet). The videos vary in sound and picture quality, but most of them are excellent. There are 4 full-length Foo Fighters videos: "Everlong", "My Hero", Next Year" and "Learn to Fly". These videos took up less than half the CD, so I filled the rest of the CD with 12 more videos of Van Halen, David Lee Roth, Ratt, Bon Jovi, and Poison (There's actually more Van Halen on this CD than anything else, but I thought it was better to fill the empty space, and VH is just what I happen to have the most of). CD is approximately 660 megs.
I trade this CD just like all the others ... 1 for 1
